About Us

Summerstock Productions, Inc. is a 501(c)(3)organization that produces musicals under the stars at the Mitch Park Amphitheatre in Edmond, Oklahoma. Each summer, veteran theatre performers, stagecraft professionals, and students of all ages work together to mount high-quality productions that bring the magic of outdoor live theatre to young and old alike. The casual atmosphere and affordable ticket prices encourage involvement in the arts for individuals and families.

History

Summerstock Productions was formed and incorporated in 2003 in response to the closing of a popular amphitheatre in Oklahoma City. Many of our founding board members’ families had spent the summer getting to know one another and enjoying this unforgettable outdoor musical theatre experience together. We committed ourselves to continuing to provide this invaluable opportunity for others to enjoy in central Oklahoma for years to come.

Our organization moved forward, receiving our IRS 501(c)(3) status in 2004. We met with officials from the City of Edmond and developed a utilization agreement to provide family outdoor musicals at the planned Mitch Park Amphitheatre. Upon its completion, Summerstock presented The Sound of Music and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat for our 2005 inaugural season. One year later, attendance nearly tripled for The Wizard of Oz and Grease!. Our third season of Summerstock musicals featured The King and I and West Side Story.

Building on our success, and with increased support from the community, corporations, sponsors, foundations, and local and state government, Summerstock is planning an exciting 2010 season. We will be presenting two musicals, Oliver! and All Shook Up, casting veteran performers, students attending university music theatre programs, as well as talented high school students. Our auditions are open to the public.
